In his documentary feature Vaineta, director Vytautas V. Landsbergis captures the life of a girl suffering from cerebral palsy. She is growing surrounded with love and care of her grandparents who accompany her in every step whereas her parents are absent. Her wishes and hobbies are just the same as every teenager's: spend time with friends, correspond with them through text messages or Skype talks, draw, make jokes, play football and read books. When asked by the director what in the whole world cheers her up most, Vaineta instantly replies: “Everything”. It seems, indeed, that every painting she makes, is a testimony of everyday joy. Vaineta's disability as captured in the film, does not create oppressive mood nor seeks spectator's pity; on the contrary – each and everyone watching the film is urged to see ability as coming out of disability.
