For the first time a Lithuanian short film, Our Father (Tėve mūsų) by Marius Ivaškevičius, was selected to close the Vilnius International Film Festival Kino pavasaris. After causing debate among the audience and having absolutely fascinated the international festival jury, the film is finally going to be shown in cinemas, the cinema Pasaka among them.

This weekend, November 21 – 22, the Cinema Pasaka will open a new mysterious corner where the visitors will be offered some gorgeous jam and an answer to the philosophical-existential question ‘What Is Love?’ or… prompted to suggest an answer themselves. The director Ramunė Čekuolytė-Che will bring new life and entertainment to the cinema. After its success at the 32nd LUCAS film festival that took place in
Frankfurt in September, a feature film by Giedrė Beinoriūtė, The Balcony, continues its international journey. At the beginning of October, this work by the Lithuanian director will be presented at the competition programme of the 7th Children’s and Youth Film Festival “Michel” () which features eight full-length films. The Children’s and Youth Film Festival “Michel” established by the Filmfest Hamburg in 2003 is successful, valued and liked by young and professional audiences.

After an almost two-year-long creative process and negotiations with international film institutions, the organisers of the European film forum Scanorama have confirmed the rumour that Scanorama will present an impressive spectacle of music and film this year: the premiere of The Passion of Joan of Arc by Carl Theodor Dreyer at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre accompanied by music created especially for this film by Bronius Kutavičius.
