The peasants of Krisitijonas Donelatis look from the cinema screen for the first time

On 14 March, at 17.00 hours, at the movie theatre "Pasaka", a new Lithuanian docu-fiction film will be premiered. The film "Donelaitis. The national costume of the 18th century Lithuania Minor" was written and directed by Ramūnas Abukevičius, acted scenes directed by Inesa Kurklietytė, cinematography by Algimantas Mikutėnas and Adomas Jablonskis.

The epic poem "The Seasons" by K. Donelaitis who is named to be a Lithuanian Homer, is a multi-layered piece. It reveals characters, relationships and behaviour, work, household details of the people of Lithuania Minor in the 18th century, depicts images of nature, describes the traditional costumes...

The docu-fiction film focuses on the national costume described in "The Seasons" by K. Donelaitis. The historical costume born in the eyes of the viewers comes alive. Characters of K. Donelaitis' "The Seasons" dressed up in historical costumes speak in the words of the poet, restoring episodes of the poem. While watching the acted episodes, viewers feel the breath of the authentic spirit of the times, see the richly portrayed peasant characters, their unexpected traits. Cast of the film includes: Vidmantas Fijalkauskas, Jonas Buziliauskas, Edita Niciūtė, Vita Šiaučiūnaitė, Saulė Degutytė, Edita Zizaitė, Antanas Kišūnas, and many others.
