The World’s most outstanding documentaries of recent years were included in the program of the Budapest International Documentary Film Festival. Giedrė Žickytė, director and producer of the film, presented the film in Hungary and met the audience. "It was nice to receive so many questions about the film and about Lithuania. A lot of young people came to the presentations of ‘The Jump’. It was yet another proof of how cinema helps to reveal the complex history of our country also to the younger generation."

Žickytė's documentary film ‘The Jump’ tells the infamous Cold War story of Lithuanian radio operator Simas Kudirka, who in 1970 jumped from a Soviet ship to a US Coast Guard boat, and requested political asylum, but was soon returned to the hands of Soviet executioners. The incident caused enormous political turmoil in the United States and the Soviet Union. This began a story of imprisonment, revelation, fame, freedom and its price.

You can still catch ‘The Jump’ playing in Lithuanian cinemas.
