Today, October 18, European Film Academy has announced eleven nominations in the category European Film Academy Documentary 2005 – Prix ARTE 2005. A film by Arūnas Matelis, “Before Flying Back to the Earth” (which has been recently awarded with the Golden Dove at the International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film) is one of the eleven nominees for the best documentary film of the year award. The Lithuanian film will compete with films from , , , , , , , and (two films have been nominated from this country). Most of these films are co-productions between European countries. The European Documentary will be selected by the jury including producer Jacques Laurent (), president of Associazione Documentaristi Italiani Alessandro Signetti () and producer, director, head of The Sam Spiegel Film and Television School Jerusalem Noemi Schory (). The author of the best documentary film will be awarded the prize on December 3, at the European Film Awards Ceremony in Berlin .
Independently from the decision, this nomination is awarded to a film forever and will be used for its distribution.
