Film Director Almantas Grikevičius is among 14 creators shortlisted for the National Culture and Art Award Lietuviškai »

The Ministry of Culture has announced 14 creators who have been shortlisted from 33 candidates nominated by various organisations; six of them will be awarded the Lithuanian National Culture and Art Award. 

This year the list of fourteen shortlisted candidates includes film director Almantas Grikevičius, theatre director Jonas Rimgaudas Jurašas, folk theatre director and set designer Povilas and Dalia Lidija Mataitis, actor Rolandas Kazlas, writers Ramutė Skučaitė and Henrikas Algis Čigriejus, composer Giedrius Kuprevičius, politician, public figure and historian of art, music and culture Vytautas Landsbergis, journalist Laimonas Tapinas, photographer Romualdas Rakauskas, sculptor Vladas Urbanavičius, art historian and architect Marija Matušakaitė, architect Eugenijus Viktoras Miliūnas and artist Žilvinas Kempinas.

The Culture and Art Award is 800 times basic income support amount (MGL) or 104,000 litas.

6 laureates will be announced on the 11th of December 2009. The award ceremony will take place at the President’s Office as part of the Independence Day celebration on the 16th of February 2010.
