Session of Eurimages, Fund of the Council of Europe takes place in Vilnius

Today, 14 October, in Vilnius, begins the session of Eurimages, Fund of the Council of Europe that supports co-production and distribution of creative cinematographic and audiovisual works. The Eurimages meeting in Lithuania is organized by Lithuanian Film Centre.

 

"Since joining the Eurimages, 7 films co-produced with Lithuania have received support.  We are happy having the opportunity to receive in Vilnius the representatives of the most important in Europe Fund supporting the film industry, and we hope that in the future among the supported projects we will see more of Lithuanian names," - says director of the Lithuanian Film Centre, Rolandas Kvietkauskas.

 

Eurimages president Jobst Plog, director Roberto Olla, and representatives of member countries will visit Lithuania. Currently, Lithuania is represented in the Eurimages Fund Board by film director Audrius Stonys and producer Uljana Kim.

Eurimages is the European Cinema Support Fund created in 1988 within the framework of the Council of Europe, to promote development of the European film industry.  The Fund has 33 Member States, Lithuania became the member of Eurimages in 2007. The Fund administers four film support schemes, of which Lithuanian projects can participate in two: support for co-production and distribution support.

Aim of Eurimages is support of co-production, distribution and public exhibition of European cinematographic works (full-length feature films and animated films, and documentary films, no shorter than 70 minutes). The Fund's financial resources consist of 33 Member States' contributions, which are allocated to film distribution, exhibition and co-production of films.

Films co-produced with Lithuania that have received Eurimages support:

 2008 - "Low-lights" by Ignas Miškinis (160,000 EUR, Lithuania-Germany), "Golden Horse" by Valentas Aškinis (350,000 EUR, Latvia-Lithuania), 2009 - "Back to Your Arms" by Kristijonas Vildžiūnas (140,000 EUR, Lithuania-Germany-Poland), 2010 - "Silence in the Snow" by Gerardo Herrero (600,000 EUR, Spain-Lithuania), "Aurora" by Kristina Buožytė (150,000 EUR, Lithuania-France-Belgium), 2012 - "The Gambler" by Ignas Jonynas (100,000 EUR, Lithuania-Latvia), 2013 - "Sangailė" by Alantė Kavaitė (110,000 EUR, Lithuania-France).
