The world premiere of Linas Mikuta’s latest film “Roman’s Childhood” will take place at DOK Leipzig, one of the world’s most important documentary and animated film festivals, which will start on 25 October. The film takes part in the main competition program of the festival, among eleven other films selected from all over the world, and is a contender for the main trophy of the festival – the Golden Dove.

In addition to the main prize, the film has been nominated for 4 other awards: Fipresci (International Critics Jury), Interreligious Jury, Young Eyes and MDR for outstanding Eastern European film.

“Roman’s Childhood” is an observational poetic documentary film about a child’s freedom and parental responsibility. The main character of the film is an eight-year-old boy Roman, who lives in Klaipėda, in a social risk family, but has two most important things in his life – complete freedom and parental love.

This year, the DOK Leipzig Festival, due to the Covid-19 situation, will take place in a hybrid mode – viewers will have the possibility to watch films both in cinemas, where current hygiene and physical distancing rules apply, and on the online platform.
