Films shot by the famous Lithuanian cinematographer Rimvydas Leipus travel around international film festivals

The famous Sundance Film Festival will start on Thursday in Park City, Utah (), and will continue for ten days. A film Khadak shot by the Lithuanian cinematographer Rimvydas Leipus (LAC) has been included into its international competition feature film programme. This co-production of , and The Netherlands was directed by the Belgian director Peter Brosens, famous for his documentary Mongolian trilogy, and Jessica Woodworth.

Khadak was filmed last winter in with the participation of professional Mongolian actors and young people debuting in cinema. This is a film-saga telling the story of a young man who has shamanic powers.

The film premiered during the 63rd Venice Film Festival where it was awarded The Lion of the Future, an award named after Luigi De Laurentis for the first full-length feature film participating in any programme of Venice festival.

Later Khadak visited Toronto International Film Festival where it was marked with a special award for artistic expression, innovation and courage; Bratislava International Film Festival where it was mentioned by the festival and ecumenical jury; Stockholm, Sao Paulo, Leeds and Tessaloniki festivals. It is still expected at Bangkok, Jerusalem, Mar del Plata, Rome and Washington film festivals.

It is expected that the film will also reach Vilnius and will be shown during the coming Spring of Cinema festival.    

Another film shot by Rimvydas Leipus will be screened at the competition programme of the 36th International Film Festival Rotterdam which will start on 24 January. This film is a story plunged in the fog of two people who should have never met: Todor, a Serbian refugee played by a famous actor Miki Manojlovič, and a young Iranian woman Nilofar who is being smuggled to be sold. Their meeting – oscillating between hatred and tenderness – turns out to be fateful to both of them.
